Background
After the revamp of the Awudome Junior secondary school library with over 500 books and learning materials, ALDI shifted its attention to Bincha, following a report by JOY FM, a school that needs immediate attention from both the government and its citizens.
Located in the northern part of Volta Region (Nkwoata-South), Bincha primary school is the only educational institution in Bincha community is totally deprived of all necessary resources needed for its proper functioning. After a visit to the community, the Foundation knew the time to act was “NOW”. Hence we committed to building a six (3) classroom blocks, a library facility, provision of books and learning aids as a step to rectify and create balance in the education and growth of the Bincha community.
As Victoria Michaels travels across the African continent, she and her team are faced with the sad reality of the failing education standard that has bedeviled our education sector.
Most first and second cycle schools situated especially in the rural areas cannot boast of a decent well-equipped learning environment. Victoria Michaels believes that the role of literacy in the development of the African continent cannot be overemphasized, hence her determination to raise awareness so that through strategic partnership we all can begin the process of correcting these anomalies.
We have the opportunity to rebuild the broken pieces of our public education system today, no one can do it for us, we must take the lead. Posterity beckons on us to leave a legacy that would be the foundation of a new Africa, the very one we all hope to see emerge out of all the challenges we have faced as a people. They have the right to education like kids in other communities do but cannot boast of equal opportunities owing to lack of resources combined with the slow-paced educational development in our rural areas.
